because of its length (9 foot), its action (moderate), its blank mass (a
mere 1.83 ounces) and its portability (4 piece construction). The
use of flexi-lite guides, natural cork split grip reelseat and handle kit
and a minimalist approach to wrapping and finishing, the finished rod weighs
in at only 3.19 ounces! Combine this rod with a 3.5" - 4" centre-pin
and the combination could theoretically weigh less than 9 ounces total!
We're talking feather light here! An attempt at completing a finished
rod that weighs in at less than 3 ounces is planned for the near
future.. I'm sure it is possible without sacrificing performance and
durability and I've got a good idea on how to accomplish it. Stay
tuned for the next installment mid summer, 2010, with a project name of
"Microgravity" seeming to be the most appropriate.
