The story...

 

This rod was a labor of love and is heading to Washington State waters for ocean run salmon and trout.  Inspired by a spring fed float rod grip from the photo gallery, it was requested that I extend it to better fit a 13'6" float rod application.  Cork was purposely arranged so that the rubberized burl and burnt were concentrated at the butt end of the blank to enhance overall balance.  Guide selection was TYSG's where it counted (in terms of wear-n-tear) and flexi-lites to preserve tip lightness.  Hook keeper and ferrule thread wraps mimic the sunrise theme present within the grip.
